Tiga orang tewas dan puluhan lainnya terluka ketika dua kereta api bertabrakan di sebuah desa di barat Republik Ceko. Kereta ekspres Munich ke Praha bernomor Ex 351 milik perusahaan Jerman Die Laenderbahn, bertabrakan dengan kereta regional yang datang dari arah yang berlawanan, antara Kota Plzen dan Domazlice di Ceko.
Seperti dilansir AFP, Rabu (4/8/2021), tim penyelamat mengatakan dua dari korban tewas adalah pengemudi mesin Ceko, salah satunya mengoperasikan kereta Jerman. Korban ketiga adalah penumpang perempuan di KA regional.
Media lokal melaporkan, beberapa orang asing bepergian dengan kereta api Jerman dan beberapa dari mereka termasuk di antara yang terluka.
“Sayangnya, menurut informasi terbaru, tabrakan kereta api … telah menewaskan tiga orang dan menyebabkan puluhan orang terluka,” kata operator kereta api nasional Sprava zeleznic di Twitter.
“Semua penumpang telah dievakuasi dari kereta api,” tambah perusahaan itu.
Polisi nasional mengatakan setiap penumpang diperhitungkan, polisi menambahkan bahwa kecelakaan itu terjadi tak lama setelah pukul 8.00 waktu setempat di Milavce.
Sebelumnya, tim penyelamat mengatakan 31 orang yang hidupnya tidak dalam bahaya sedang dirawat dan tujuh lainnya dalam keadaan kritis.
Menurut rekaman yang ditayangkan di televisi publik Ceko, satu bagian dari kereta Jerman benar-benar hancur, meskipun kedua kendaraan tetap tegak.
Die Laenderbahn mengatakan dalam sebuah pernyataan bahwa berjalannya kereta di sisi Ceko adalah tanggung jawab CD, Ceske drahy, operator kereta penumpang negara bagian.
Menteri Transportasi Ceko Karel Havlicek mengatakan kereta bernomor Ex 351 tidak mematuhi sinyal dan menabrak kereta regional.
“Situasinya serius,” kata Havlicek sambil menuju ke lokasi kecelakaan.
Perdana Menteri Ceko Andrej Babis mentweet “belasungkawa yang tulus kepada keluarga orang yang meninggal. Penting untuk menyelamatkan nyawa lain. Kemudian semuanya harus diselidiki.”
“Polisi Jerman juga telah menawarkan bantuan,” tambah mereka.
Dua kecelakaan kereta api di Republik Ceko pada Juli tahun lalu menyebabkan tiga orang tewas dan puluhan lainnya luka-luka.
Republik Ceko telah mengalami beberapa kecelakaan kereta api fatal lainnya selama bertahun-tahun, termasuk satu yang menewaskan 118 orang dan melukai 100 lainnya pada tahun 1960, ketika negara itu masih menjadi bagian dari Cekoslowakia. (gi/**)
